About us

‘Discover Renosterveld’ is among the groups of environmentalists who believe that it’s not too late to try to rescue and restore and recover the almost lost bits of the Renosterveld .

We at Discover Renosterveld are involved in rewilding on the farms and urban environments and assisting with Renosterveld management so that the very threatened Renosterveld can be showcased in all its glory.

We are supporters of planting locally endemic Renosterveld back into the landscape – wild or in gardens.

In order to preserve the gene pool of the fragile environment it is important that we consider the locally endemic species before introducing similar species from a different ecotype.

By raising awareness in communities, and encouraging rewilding of their areas we aim to create sustainable Renosterveld corridors from the mountains to the sea.

To this end we have brought together groups of like-minded people from various communities such as the farming community, landscaping industry, alien clearing contractors, specialists involved in rehabilitation of water courses, the Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy, other conservancies, in fact all landowners and custodians of land who care for the environment.

Owner director Lynda Muller a horticulturist of more than 40yr horticultural experience in producing fynbos is supported by her partner Jesse Roos who has taken over the marketing and awareness portfolio.  Our very able nursery and plant rescue team is now 15 permanent employees’ strong many of whom have been with the project since the start in 2016

Origin of Our logo

The Rosette Gall

Our logo is inspired by the Rosette Gall Midge found on our very own Renosterbos.

This remarkable ecosystem engineer adapts its habitat to favour other species living with it.

In much the same way Discover Renosterveld strives to create a wild space to encourage ecosystem renewal within our critically endangered Renosterveld.
